تشهد العلوم المعاصر ثورة قوية فى التحول من العلوم التقليدية التي تهتم بالدراسات السطحية غير المتعمقة، إلى ميلاد علوم جديدة تبحث في جواهر الأمور وبتعمق فجاءت "علوم المسنين" قائمةً بذاتها، في الوقت الذي تُعَد فيه الثروة البشرية في المجتمعات العربية قوة لا يستهان بها، وعنصراً هاماً وأساسياً وفاعلاً في سبيل التقدم والتطور والتحضر والرِّيادة المنشودة فيها، في ذات الوقت الذي تمر فيه المنطقة العربية بمنعطف خطـير، بات يعـرف "بالربيع العـربي"، وهو المصطلح الذي أطلق على الأحداث التي طرأت علي بعض المجتمعات العربية. وانبثقت مشکلة البحث الحالي من أهمية دراسة بعض المتغيرات التي استحدثت علي المجتمع إثر ذلک، وحدوث انفلات أخلاقي لدي بعض الشباب، فأثر بصورة مباشرة في ذوات وحياة المسنين، النفسية والاجتماعية، وسلوکيات تؤذى مشاعرهم، کان ذا أثر سلبي علي جوانبهم الاجتماعية والنفسية، کعدم الرضا عن الحياة، وعدم التکيف، والشعور بالعجز، فالمشکلة الاجتماعية موقف ينجم عن ظروف بيئية مجتمعية يؤثر على الذات، فتحتاج إلي معالجة إصلاحية، مما أکد إلي توفير أدوار موصوفة وأدوار ممارسة فاعلة لأخصائي رعاية المسنين، وقائية وعلاجي وتنبؤية وإرشاد وتوجيه بالمقابلة والملاحظة ودراسة الحالة، وغيرها. وهدف البحث تعرف الخلفية الثقافية الداعمة في الوصول لمظاهر وملامح المشکلات المجتمعية المستحدثة، وواقعها، والدور الموصوف والدور الممارس لأخصائي رعاية المسنين في مواجهتها، واتبع المنهج (الوصفي التحليلي) للمسح الميداني، وجاءت خطوات البحث في الإجابة عن أسألته، فأکدت وجود مشکلات اجتماعية، وثقافية وغيرها، وخلصت النتائج إلي أن للدور الموصوف والدور الممارس لأخصائي رعاية المسنين في مواجهة المشکلات المجتمعية المستحدثة ذا أهمية کبيرة، وقائياً، وعلاجياً، وتنموياً، لتحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية، والدور الموصوف والدور الممارس وقواعد تقديم الخدمات والرعاية الاجتماعية کالاستقامة المهنية، والکفاءة المهنية، والأمانة والاستقامة المهنية، وأوصي البحث بتفعيل المسؤوليات الأخلاقية لأخصائي رعاية المسنين، کاحترام قيمة وکرامة الإنسان، تحقيق العدالة الاجتماعية، تقديم الخدمات الاجتماعية، الاستقامة المهنية، الکفاءة المهنية...وغيرها، العمل علي وجود أبحاث تجريبية وشبه تجريبية متقدمة علي إثر هذا البحث للوقوف علي نقاط عديدة وهامة فى ذات الموضوع قد يکون البحث الحالي غفل عنها دون عمد، والوقوف علي أسباب عزوف بعض الشباب عن تأدية واجباتهم تجاه رعاية المسنين وفي کافه الميادين، وتدشين موقع إلکتروني يدون به کل خبرات الشيوخ (المسنين)، ليستقي الشباب من خبراتهم، وأن يصبح عام 2018م، تحت مسمي (عام المسنون) "هم تاج علي رؤوسنا".
